Who is interested to know who is fascinated of so many different things has only to go on reading. I do not know what you might want to know but I will just start anyway and tell you a little.
My normal name is Christina. I am 30 years old and I come from Cologne. I love my hometown. I was born there, spend my childhood and went to school there. After school I studied there: Sports and Physics to become a teacher. In the second part of that studies I went to Aachen where I noticed that I do not want to stay in this job. So I started to study again. Now I study at the "Fachhochschule" in Jülich and want to become an engineer (Applied physics).
For all of whom who do not know where Jülich is: No it is not at the back of beyond but if we stand on our tiptoes we can see it! *grins*
During my first studies I started travelling. Travelling means to me to get to know the culture of the country. So I do not travel with groups but I travel on my own. If you've got a good travellers guide which you should read attentively there will be no problem in most countries. I want to decide by myself what I am going to see and how long I am going to stay there. And if I like a place I want to be free to stay there. On this way of travelling it is much easier to meet the people over there.
At the university of sports in Cologne I came into contact with a rather unusual kind of music for germans, with batucada. What we do is we are making brasilian samba music. If you hear a samba-group anywhere e.g. at carnival it is surely a batucada-group. To produce this sound we use drums in different sizes and with different rhythms. There is a leader with a rather small drum who gives calls and the rest of the group answers to it. Afterwards everyone returns to his basic rhythm. So it is kind of call and answer game. We also play on big drums and snare drums, tambourines and bells. Every instrument has its very own basic rhythm. There is another instrument, the shaker Most of the time it is a big tin filled with sand. Sometimes you see it as a big rattle with many little plates of metal which is shaken forward and back again. I have played the "Surdo" (one of the big drums) and the "shaker". So you do not have to be from brazil to play in a samba-group. There are quiet a few groups in germany. Little hint for all of you who live close to Bonn: At "Rhein in Flammen" there are samba-groups playing under the bridge every year. The atmosphere is genius there. Go and feel it!
Apart from that I like to sing and in 2001 I started to teach myself to play the guitar. I already know by now that the cramps in my left hand stop if I let go the instrument. I am just kidding. It is not that bad anymore but it is not more than a little bit of camp fire music. But that has to be enough for the moment. I just do not have enough time to practise.
As you might guess because of the page about Scottish Highland dancing, I dance for several years now. Like most of the girls I started dancing at a dancing school taking part in a ballroom class. With short breaks I have danced nearly 10 years in different dancing schools. I do not dance right now because I do not have a partner for it.
Because of my studies in sports you should not be surprised that I do some sports from time to time. Mostly I play tennis then. But I like volleyball, swimming and skiing as well. So I do not follow the motto: "sport is murder". I just try not to get injured too often. *grins*
I nearly forgot one of my hobbies: (parlour) games. Yes, I am one of the adults that like to sit at a table with others and play hours and hours. For that I visit the exhibition for games in Essen every year. I love to test new games there and play the whole day. Unfortunately I do not have the time to do this more often. Or there are too less of playmates for the games because most of the new games are for 3 players or more. Playing cards is not my favourite but I like to play "Doppelkopf".
For those who like it short:
That's enough for now, isn't it?
