The pictures you see on this page are from my holiday in Indonesia. That was in 1996. Indonesia is quiet big so I did not visit all of the islands. I have been to Flores, Bali, Lombok and Java. The picture on the top of this page shows a figure I found on Bali.
Terraces of rice on Bali
If you do not only spend your time on the beach while you are on Bali you will see lots of terraceses of rice, sooner or later. You will find them in temples as well!
Pura Ulun Danau
This picture might be one of the most taken pictures by tourists on Bali. I think one of the reasons might be that it is positioned perfectly at the shores of Lake Bratan. Gorgeous!
Splitted entrance of balinese temples
The entrance of all the hinduistic temples on bali is a more or less big gate. This one you will find at the botanic garden next to the Lake Bratan. These stone gates are decorated ingeniously with figures and ornaments.
Beach on Lombok
The first thing I realised when I travelled from Bali to Lombok was that this island was not that green as Bali. It was rather brown and dry. But as you may see they have marvellous lonesome beaches!
On our way to Sembalun Lawang
Of course there are green trees and meadows on Lombok as well. Especially the colours at this fantastic day with the blue sea fascinated me. The white sand matches this mixture of colours perfectly.
Prambanan at night
This is the temple of prambanan at night when it is illuminated. It is the breathtaking scenery for the Ramayanaballet in Yogyakarta.
Diengplateau
This pictureI took on the isle of Java on the Diengplateau. If you get up early and climb a hill then you will have the pleasure to experience the wonderful sunrise. In the background you may recognise the vulcano "Gungung Merapi".
Colour- and Mirrorlake
On our way back from this morning excursion you pass a lot of beautiful spots. As well these two lakes, the " Colourlake" in the front and the " Mirrorlake" behind. You should enjoy the view then!
Borobodur
Borobudur is the world's biggest buddhistic temple. It is build in several levels. On the upper levels there are some small temples situated around a big one. In these small temples you will find small statues of Buddha. It is said that who touches them will be lucky.
