Here you will find the former "pictures of the month". I want to show them to my new guests as well. And maybe one of the visitors who have seen them already, want to look at them again? Have fun!
This picture shows the hinduistic temple of Prambanan after sunset. The temple you find in Indonesia on the islands of Java close to the town of Yogyakarta.
This picture I have taken during a helicopter-flight at Fox Glacier in New Zealand. The Fox Glacier is placed on the South Island in the Southern Alps close to Mount Cook (highest mountain of NZ). I thought of presenting a more Christmas-like picture this month. Merry Christmas everybody!
This castle is situated in Scotland and is called Eilean Donan Castle. It is the best preserved castle of Scotland and is a well-known attraction to many tourists. If you have seen the movie "Highlander" you might already know it. I wish you all a Happy New Year!
Who wants to have this wonderful view has to travel to Indonesia. I have seen this Sunset on the island Flores close to the village of Labuhan Bajo. If you don't hear the waves and feel the sand under your feet by looking at this picture you may prefer travelling into the mountains? This is one of my favourite pictures.
You could also name this picture "Carnival on bali". I am from Cologne and so you get a picture this month that fits to carnival which takes place at the moment. This mask was carried through the streets of Ubud by a young boy. There have been a lot of masked children all around. The reason for this parade has been the highest hinduistic holiday which is celebrated twice a year. The hinduistic calendar is much shorter than ours. The parade is accompanied by an orchestra of young gamelan players.
That's how it looks after I have been angry! So be careful!
April fool!
Of course I am not able to divide a big granite rock in two. This curiosity can be seen close to the Abel Tasman National Park in the north of the South Island in NZ. Looks very strange, doesn't it?
Today it's a picture for dreaming again. This wonderful sunset I have seen at Ampenan, Lombok (Indonesia). In the background you can see the volcano Gunung Agung from the next island Bali which is covered in clouds.
This picturesque lighthouse is situated on one of the numerous islands in the Bay of islands in NZ. The weather was fantastic this day which is proofed by the blue sky on this picture. By looking at this picture I dream of an ice-cream. Fortunately it is really warm in Germany at the moment. Let's get an ice-cream!
Here you can see the surrounding of Linlithgow (close to Edinburgh) in Scotland. The camp-site is placed on a hill which showed this view around. But unfortunately the way back has always been very exhausting. If you look closely you will find the street in the middle of this picture. *grins*
On the picture above you see the small town of Urbino (Italy). High above the houses with its nice tiled roofs you have a fantastic view. You shouldn't miss that if you travel to Italy.
This entrance belongs to the "mother of temples" Besakih on Bali (Indonesia). This temple area consists of countless little and big temples and on the very top you find the seat of the holy trinity.
This view I discovered on my way to Dargaville in the north of the North Island (NZ).Wouldn't you like to live in one of this nice little houses at the shore, too? So if I retire some day……
This month it is not a picture of one of my travels but one of the view I have at home in cologne every day from our balcony. Of course we need the right weather for that. The building you see was called the "television tower" Colonius. There used to be a restaurant but now it is closed and used for telecommunication. When I look at this picture I know why I like Cologne…..
Just like the picture from December 2002 I took this one on my helicopter-flight at Fox Glacier. Here you see the highest mountain of New Zealand: Mount Cook. From the ground you normally see it covered in clouds so you have to go on a helicopter-flight to see it. I show it to you exclusively and free of charge! *grins* I wish you all a merry Christmas!
This one's from Scotland again. I took it from Stirling Castle. I hope you like green hills! *grins* I wish you all a happy New Year!
If you have already been to Rome you should recognise these ruins. It's the Forum Romanum. I like the ruins of Herkulaneum and Pompeji better than this. But none the less it is a picture to start dreaming of another holidays.
That's another picture from the end of the world (NZ). You may have a close look at the wonderful carvings at the front of this canoe which can be admired in Waitangi. Normally it is placed under a shed. But they had to restore the shed and so the canoe was standing in the sun and made me taking this picture.
I think it is time for another picture from Scotland again. This lake is situated next to the Castle of Linlithgow and the citizens of this village use it as park for recreation. It is very funny to sit there in the sun and watch the people. Very relaxing! And for Easter is coming I wish you all: Happy Easter!
After Scotland this one is from Indonesia again. It is from Bali exactly. It shows the rainforest around the Lake of Bratan. *sings* In the jungle, the mighty jungle…..
This month you get a totally different picture. It is from Paris. I was standing just beneath the Eiffel-tower at sunset. I like the atmosphere of this picture in a very weird way….
These vineyards with its mountains and clouds in the background you will find in New Zealand between Picton and Nelson. It's a very nice place like nearly everywhere in NZ. *grins*
Today I show you a "strange" picture. This picture I took on my journey through Italy. Looks cute, doesn't it? I love it!
On the picture above you can see Mount Eden, one of the volcanos of Auckland. I took this picture on my very first day at NZ from the Skytower. If I would not have this pictures I would not know what I have seen there. I was so tired after 27 hours of travelling. For a tracking tour on Mount Eden I would have been to tired, I guess. Later I recognised that it is quiet exhausting climbing that mountain. But there are people who are going for jogging there. *shaking her head*
This month something funny again. This sign was fixed onto a fence around a Nessie made of papier-mache on the camp-site of Loch Ness. Immediately it made me smile very broadly. I hope the weather at the moment does not keep you off from smiling.
This picture shows the Champagne pool at Waiotapu which can be seen at Thermal Wonderland. The colours have been very fascinating but very difficult to take pictures from. I hope you can guess anyway how beautiful it has been.
Another picture from NZ! This time you see Queenstown on the South Island. Queenstown is kind of an adventure play ground of New Zealand. Don't matter what kind of extreme sports you want to do, you will get it there. Very famous is Bungy jumping of course. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
